Battle Report: WM Cygnar vs. Protectorate (25 Point League Game)

We are allowed to play 2 League Games per week and as of yesterday I had only had 1 game in for the week.  Since I was home watching the kids while I let the wife have a "day out" alone, my son and I decided to 'throw down' in the garage.  My son already had his 2 games in for the week, so he was playing as a 'neutral' opponent against me.

WM: Protectorate Revenger (Warjack)

It was another slow week for painting, but I was able to manage to get a model done yesterday to add to the Protectorate of Menoth army that my son has.  I decided to work on his "Revenger" Light Warjack that he has.  I also decided to try a slightly different painting style with this Warjack.

WM: Cygnar Trencher Cannon Crew (Unit)

This was a slow week for me in regards to posting and painting models.  I did manage to get a few things done last weekend (Reinholdt and Crusader) and I finally put my son's "Trencher Cannon Crew" on the painting table the other night.  With work and personal life finding ways to slow down my painting, I was able to actually complete this Unit yesterday.

WM: Protectorate Crusader (Warjack)

I finally was able to continue on my son's Protectorate of Menoth army that he received for Christmas with the "Crusader" Warjack.  Between running around this weekend doing personal errands and bumping up the "Reinholdt Gobber" model, the "Crusader" finally was finished last night.  Shortly after Christmas I painted up his "High Exemplar Kreoss" miniature just to get a feel on how I was going to paint up the 'white' on the Protectorate models.  I was very happy with how "Kreoss" turned out, but I am not sure about the "Crusader".

Hordes: Skorne Titan Gladiator (Warbeast)

Skorne Showcase

While I'm working on a few other models that are not quite done yet, here is another model for the 'Skorne Showcase'. Up next we have the "Titan Gladiator".  You'll notice he is missing a shoulder pad which was used on the "Cyclops Brute" as a shield.  As with the rest of the Skorne models, the base has also been redone and the model was touched up a bit.

Hordes: Skorne Praetorian Swordsmen (Unit)

Skorne Showcase

With work being really busy, I have not had much time to get anything painted this week.  Usually I try and play catch up on the weekends.  I have some models primed and ready to go, I just hope I can get to them.  With that being said, we will then continue on with the 'Skorne Showcase'.

WM: Khador Winter Guard Rocketeer (2) (UA)

'Second Rocketeer, same as first Rocketeer'.  My local gaming store finally received their shipment of Privateer Press models.  I was able to pick up the last two models I need for my Khador army so I can have a very flexible 35 point list, and enough to do a 50 point list that I like.

WM: Cygnar Long Gunners Officer & Standard (UA)

Back to work on a few models for my son's Cygnar army.  This is one of the two armies that my goal is to have a 50 point painted playable list (having 50 points in Warjacks to me is not considered playable so I have to paint the Units too).  Since he already had these models it was time to get them painted.  The "Long Gunners Officer & Standard" will make a nice 2 point add-on when needed.  I believe all I really have left for the Cygnar to paint will be his "Trencher Cannon Crew" and he'll be able to choose some nice lists to play with.  Anything else that we purchase for Cygnar will be just to collect the models and expand his choices.

Hordes: Skorne Basilisk Drake (Warbeast)

In my son's Skorne army that  I recently gave him, we have 5 models plus the new "Malik Karn" that were still unpainted.

The other day I decided that I wanted to go ahead and paint one of these models.  Just a small break from painting Cygnar and Khador.  I decided to paint up the "Basilisk Drake" that he had.  The "Basilisk Drake" was already primed so it was just a matter of getting started.  The other reason I choose this model is that it makes for a good test bed in case I ever do the Hordes Minion Gators.

WM: Protectorate Vessel Of Judgment (Sneak Peak)

Privateer Press released today the final 'sneak peak' concept sketch of their Battle Engines for Warmachine.  Here is the art for The Protectorate Of Menoth Battle Engine.

I actually really like the look of this model.  Knowing me, I'll probably buy one of each of the Battle Engines when they get released.

WM: Khador Winter Guard Rocketeer (1) (UA)

Along with painting my "Winter Guard Infantry" unit for Khador this past weekend, I decided to include the one "Winter Guard Rocketeer" at the same time since all the colors were basically the same.  I really would like to have one more "Rocketeer" in my 35 point list for an upcoming tournament in February, but currently my local game stores are out of this model.  Hopefully they will get another one soon so I can go ahead and try this list out.

WM: Khador Gun Carriage (Sneak Peak)

I am sure most of you already seen and heard that Privateer Press has released a 'sneak peak' of their all new "Khador Gun Carriage" Battle Engine that will be released in June 2011 as part of 'Wrath'.

Over the course of the week, Privateer Press plans on releasing more information about their upcoming Battle Engines.
"That’s right; over the course of the week you are going to get a true insider look at the overall production of battle engines and how each department tackled these awesome new models. As if that weren't enough to chew on, we are also previewing the concept art for each of the remaining four battle engines with a new one at the end of each insider."
Here is the image that was released today for the "Khador Gun Carriage".  I know what model I'll be purchasing this Summer.

Battle Report: WM 15 Point Tournament

Just wanted to give a brief update on my first Warmachine tournament that I played in today.  My local game store was running a 15 point force restriction tournament today (1 Warcaster / 1+ Warjacks / 1 Solo / 1 Unit / 0-1 UA) and my son and I thought this would be a fun point level to try for our first tournament.  This was going to be preparation for a 35 point tournament next month.

Here are some of the basics of the event.  Every mission was going to be 'Killbox' with 6 minute turns.  We had about 26 players show up, so it looked like it was going to be at least a 5 round tournament.  Sportsmanship and Painting scores were not going to be used.

Daily Chronicle: 1/2/2011 'Affordable Display Base'

In a few hours my son and I will be playing in our first ever Warmachine "Steamroller" tournament.  It is just a small 15 point tournament with force restrictions. 1 Warcaster / 1+ Warjacks / 1 Solo / 1 Unit / 0-1 UA.

I have played in plenty of Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40K tournaments in the last decade that I always had some type of 'display base' for my army.  Sometimes they were elaborate display bases to just a painted and flocked cork board.  For me personally the display base is used to carry your army to assigned tables between each round, if they look pretty, then thats a plus.

So back to today's tournament today.  I wanted something small just to carry the army.  Since painted armies were not a requirement nor will they be scored, the look of the display base is not important.  The other day I ran to the "big blue box" store to pick up a few items.

Daily Chronicle: 1/1/2011 Happy New Year List 2011

Happy New Year to all!

It is now the time for all of us to blog about our gaming resolutions for 2011.  I was pretty happy with what I accomplished in 2010 in regards to playing games and getting armies fully painted for 'Painting Points'.  Now lets see what we can come up with for 2011.
