WM: Rhul Thor Steinhammer (Solo)

Mercenaries
More work continued on my Rhul Warmachine army.

This time I decided to paint up Thor Steinhammer.  He is a 'Jack Marshal' for the Rhul army and he can also be used as a Mercenary in my Khador army.  As a 'Jack Marshal' for my Khador army, he can control up to two Mercenary Warjacks.

Thor Steinhammer was actually quite fun and easy to paint up.  I was able to get him done in about 90 minutes, and the GW 'Devlan Mud' wash worked great on him.

WM: Rhul Grundback Gunners (Warjack)

Mercenaries
The first models for my Rhul Mercenaries army for Warmachine are now done.  The first two models I started painting were the "Grundback Gunners".  Since these two Warjacks were so small, I decided to paint them together and save some time.

The Rhul army is only going to be 15 points to start with, so I still have my Warcaster "Gorten Grundback", a Solo "Thor Steinhammer" and two Heavy Warjacks, "Rockram" and a "Driller" to paint.

I'll be picking up the "Driller" model this weekend and hopefully more progress will be done on them before the weekend is over.

WM: Cygnar Ironclad (Warjack)

Cygnar
I completed the second Heavy Warjack for the Cygnar army.....  "Ironclad"

Now my son's Cygnar army is painted to 15 points, or his initial Battlegroup.  He has Stryker, Ironclad, Defender and the Sentinel painted up.  This will be good for us to continue learning the game.

I will now probably move on to painting a few models for my Khador and Rhul armies and then when some of those are done come back to Cygnar.

WM: Cygnar Sentinel (Warjack)

Cygnar
Watching football and painting models, what else to do on a Sunday afternoon.  When I finished my son's "Defender" Heavy Warjack, work then started on one of his Light Warjacks.

He has three Light Warjacks to choose from and I decided to paint up "Sentinel" since he uses this model in his 15 point lists.  "Hunter" and "Lancer" are the other two Light Warjacks and I'll probably get to those next weekend.

WM: Cygnar Defender (Warjack)

Cygnar
Today I decided to do some more work on my son's Cygnar army.  The other day I painted his two Warcaster's Commander Stryker and Allister Caine so today I moved onto some of his Warjacks.

First up was going to be one of his Heavy Warjack's.  He has a "Defender" model and an "Ironclad" model.  I decided to go with "Defender" first.

Just like my Khador "Spriggan" model I painted yesterday morning, I went with GW 'Asumen Blue' wash for the armor instead of the P3 'Armor Wash'.

Here is Cygnar's Heavy Warjack "Defender":

WM: Collecting A Rhul Army

Mercenaries
This past week Empire Games in Mesa, AZ still had a lot of overstock items that they were selling for 20%-30% off.  When reading the Warmachines MKII Rulebook and coming across the faction of Rhul "The dwarven nation of Rhul lies in the cold mountains of the north." and then seeing the models on the tables at Empire Games, I knew I had to collect a small force.  A Warmachine 'dwarven' army just sounds like too much fun.

I love playing with dwarves, so be it Warhammer Fantasy, Lord of the Rings and then now seeing them in Warmachine.

Since Khador will be my main army for Warmachine (always expanding this army) (and Cygnar for my son), I still like to collect other smaller forces (15 points is fine for me).  A benefit with the Rhul faction is that I can also play them as Mercenaries for my Khador faction.  In 'Battle Royale' games I can run a Khador and Rhul Warcaster, or in the smaller point games I can play a Jackhammer Solo with my Khador and still add the Rhul Warjacks.  This is going to be fun.

So for my 15 points of Rhul, I decided to pick up the following models:

Warcaster:
Gorten Grundback
Privateer Press©
Warjacks:
Grundback Gunners x2
Privateer Press©
Wroughthammer Rockram
Privateer Press©
Ghordson Driller (still need to pickup next weekend)
Privateer Press©

Solo:
Thor Steinhammer
Privateer Press©
This list works out perfectly to 15 (+7) points.  Thor Steinhammer is my Jackhammer so I can also run them with my Khador army.

While my son was getting in a game of Fantasy yesterday, I was able to assemble all the above models (minus the Driller of course).  Then next weekend I'll pick up the Driller and some paint for them and get started with these guys.

WM: Khador Spriggan (Warjack)

Khador
This morning I was able to start and finish the next Warjack for my Warmachine's Khador army.  The second Warjack I have is "Spriggan".  I love playing with this guy, he is very powerful, especially with his 2" 'Reach'.

When I painted my "Destroyer" the other day, I had washed the armor with the P3 'Armor Wash' and had thought that he turned out a bit too dark.  I also mentioned that with my next Warjack I was going to replace the 'Armor Wash' with GW's 'Baal Red'.  Well "Spriggan" was done with the 'Baal Red' and I really like the way he turned out.  I think I'll be sticking with that wash going forward.

WM: Cygnar Commander Stryker (Warcaster)

Cygnar
As I mentioned yesterday in my post about Allister Caine I painted both of my son's Cygnar Warcaster's at the same time.  Allister Caine and here is Commander Stryker.

I am actually quite hapy on how he turned out.

WM: Cygnar Allister Caine (Warcaster)

Cygnar
I was able to get some work done today on my son's Warmachine Cygnar army.  I started to paint the Warcaster's first and then I'll move onto some of his Warjacks once I make more progress on my Khador army.  With having his Warcaster's done, at least there is some progress on the army, and what better way than showing off the leader of your army.

First up is Allister Caine (he really does look better in person than in the photo)
I'll post up Commander Stryker once I get back from gaming tonight.

WM: Khador Destroyer (Warjack)

Khador
Just finished up my very first Warjack for my Warmachines Khador army.  I had two Warjacks to chose from and I decided to paint "Destroyer" first.

My feelings are mixed on how he came out.  I think he came out a little bit too dark.  I decided to wash the entire model with P3 'Armor Wash' instead of GW's 'Devlan Mud' or 'Baal Red'.  Once the wash was dry, I went back over the red with 'Khador Red'.  Lesson learned.  I think next time I'll still use the 'Armor Wash' on all the steel areas, but for the armor, I am going to go with GW's 'Baal Red'.  This guy will just look like he needs a bath.

Going forward, Khador Red will be washed with 'Baal Red', other dark colors in 'Devlan Mud' and the steel will be done in 'Armor Wash'.  Like I posted on the two Warcasters I finished, I went with 'Devlan Mud' for the entire model.  Again, I think 'Baal Red' would have been a better choice.  Oh well, I am getting these done for "tabletop quality" and not any painting competition.

Not sure what I am going to paint next.  I may decide to paint up Stryker for my son's Cygnar army.
