Guild Ball: Miner's Minor Guild Official Release Date

In a shocking update from Steamforged Games this morning, the Minor guild for the Engineer's, the Miner's are going to be made available for pre-orders on February 15th, 2019 and will be released on March 1st, 2019.  That is 2 weeks before the release of the Cook's Minor Guild that was announced a few weeks ago.

Also in a slight twist, the Miner's will not be made in plastic like all the previous Minor Guilds, nor come in a fancy box, due to the size of some of the models, SFG elected to cast the Miner's in resin and they will be packaged in legacy boxes.  I am a little disappointed in this for a few reasons:
1. The plastic models were easier for a new player to purchase and place on the table to get started with a game (SFG original intentions for going to plastic)
2. Along the same lines as #1 above, the resin models will need to be assembled.
3. No consistency in material across their lines.

At the same time with this announcement, SFG announced a new way for local gaming stores to order with them and it will be called SFG Direct.  It looks like they are planning on taking out the middle man (the distributors).  I know Privateer Press has moved to this route for older models, but it looks like SFG is moving towards this direction for all orders or at least their resin models.  I am not sure how this will play out for the lgs' here in the States in terms of shipping costs.  Usually when they place their orders through a distributor, they have items from multiple manufacturers that they can order from, now they will have to do multiple orders.

We shall wait and see what happens,,,,

Guild Ball: Pitches Arrived

I am running my first Guild Ball event next month on March 16th, 2019 at Fantasy Games in South Bend, IN and the event more than likely will not sell out the 16 spots allocated, I thought just in case I better purchase some more Guild Ball Pitches.

Currently I own 5 Pitches, 2 Steamforged Games Classic Pitches and 3 Hidden Forest Pitches which would be enough for a 10 player event.

Hidden Forest Pitch

Before leaving on vacation, I came across a website that was clearing out the Steamforged Games Classic Pitches and Proving Ground Pitches, these Pitches retail for $58.00 and they were down to $20.00.  At that price, I ordered 5 more Pitches, 4 of the Classic and 1 of the Proving Grounds (since I did not own one of these yet).

While on vacation last week, my package arrived and I finally gotten around to open the shipping boxes.

With the 10 Pitches that i know currently own, hosting a 16-20 player event will not be a problem.

Weekly Chronicle 2019 #5

While being on vacation last week, I missed out on posting "Weekly Chronicle #4", there actually was not much to report, and there is not much to report for last week.

I finished the month of January only playing 4 games of Guild Ball, which is a lot less than I had hoped for.  I am really hoping February will be a better month.  I do have a semi local Guild Ball event I am planning on attending in 2 weeks, and then on the 23rd of February is the Bourbon Trail Open IV down in Kentucky, so between those 2 events and practice games for those events, I should hit double digits this month for Guild Ball games.

That still leaves me needing practice games for X-Wing.  I am signed up for the X-Wing Championships on AdeptiCon Friday (though I will probably lose my first 2 games and be eliminated), but I still need to refresh up on my lists.  There was an update last week for the points costs of the ships, so now I have to go through my lists and see which I want to play.  I have been leaning towards a Boba Fett list, but I may elect to change that, we shall see.

I need to try and squeeze in 1-2 practice games of Guild Ball each week and a practice game of X-Wing.

Regarding the painting side of my hobby, it has been really really bad this year.  Right now I am not feeling a spark to get anything completed.

Weekly Chronicle 2019 #3

It was another bad week in the painting department for me this week, and it looks like it will continue that way for the rest of the month.  I'll be heading out of town next weekend for a week, and nights this week look to be busy too.  Maybe tomorrow night I may be able to finish off the model that has been sitting on my painting station.

At least this past week I did make up for it with a few games.  I was able to get in 3 games of Guild Ball, and quick game of Destiny in.  It has only been 4 games of Guild Ball in so far this month and I am a little behind schedule of my goal of 50 games played for the year.  Missing out on a tournament last weekend has cost me a few games, but I do have a lot of events scheduled for the year so i should still be able to hit my goal......but....we still also have a lot of other games we need to try and squeeze in this year also.  I have not touched X-Wing this year so far and it is just over two month's till AdeptiCon where I will be playing in an event there.  Depending on how work goes today, we may be able to squeeze in a game tonight.
