Guild Ball: On the Butcher's Block

Two posts in one day.....Just wanted to give a head's up on what is coming down the pipeline.  This past week while I have been showcasing my Mortician's Guild for Guild Ball, I have also been modeling/painting a new Guild for me, The Butcher's Guild.  I first picked up a few models at the end of May while visiting my son back in Arizona and the local game store had a clearance table of some models, and then when I got back to Michigan, I ordered the starter set for them.  In total I was able to pick up 9 models at a pretty decent price (also the other day I ordered the remaining 3 models that I need to complete the entire Guild).

The Butcher's Guild reminds me a lot of Khador when I played Warmachine and my Warcaster Butcher (ironic).  I loved his playstyle of charging in and killing everything in site. I am hoping these guys play the same, with also the possibility of maybe a few goals.

Butchers’ play style has been designed to be quite straightforward. They are masters of the mid to late game. They excel at damage output and generate a lot of momentum through combat and damage effects. They provide each other with a good assortment of buffs and debuffs in order to allow combo play. Butchers mainly focus on raw damage.

That’s not to say that they don’t have some surprises up their sleeves - characters like Shank and Boiler can pop up and surprise you with their goal threats if you’re not careful …

Guild Ball: Mortician's Guild 'Obulus'

In case you missed yesterday's post  I recently purchased some Mortician players for Guild Ball.  This was the last Guild that my son and I needed in order to have all the current Guilds.  The models needed a lot of touching up and all their bases redone so they could match all of our other Guilds.

So first up for the Mortician's, we have one of their Captains with 'Obulus'.

Guild Ball: Welcome to the Mortician's Guild

Yes, it has been a long time since I last had a post (back in June).  I have been real busy taking care of a new puppy along with my usual Summer time blues.

I have not done too much gaming, I believe I got in one game of Guild Ball (currently my favorite game) and that is about it.  Modeling/Painting has also been slow, but hopefully with this post we can get the ball rolling again.

In case you are a newer reader, years and years ago a friend from Arizona wrote a blog post asking what type of gamer you are.  Gamer, Collector, Modeler and in what order.  I feel that in every game system I get involved in, I have always been a Collector/Modeler/Gamer in that order.  I love collecting armies, getting them painted, and then when time allows, get a game in.  That is what sort of hooked me into Guild Ball.  To play a game of Guild Ball all you need is a starting lineup of 6 models and there are currently a total of 9 Guilds with 2 more coming out very soon.  Then there is roughly about 10-14 models per Guild.  Some of the Guilds I have are in my oldest son's possesion, but I count them as part of 'our' collection (at this point I do not see a need to have duplicate Guilds).

Besides the 2 new Guilds coming out (Farmer's next week and Blacksmith's later this year) we were only short 1 Guild for our collection and that was the Mortician's.  Last week I can across a Mortician's Guild for sale on a Facebook Group for a reasonable price and they were painted (pretty decently too).  It included 8 painted models and an unpainted 'Scapel' model. I made the purchase and the models arrived a few days later.  After opening the box and looking over the model, you could tell this Guild was played with (that's alright) and needed some touching up.  I also prefer all my Guilds to have the same basing style (call me OCD).  So I spent the weekend cleaning up all the models and rebasing them.

This week I will be taking individual pictures of each of the models and posting them here.

Enjoy!

Guild Ball: Engineer's Guild 'Mother'

Now we finally have the last model for the Engineer's Guild with 'Mother'.  'Mother' is the seconf Mascot for the Engineer's and this model I can see hitting the Pitch.  I really do like the ability to use a free Long Bomb with 'Mainspring', but I can see 'Mother's' Character Play Burrow coming real handy especially when paired up with 'Hoist'.

I really think it will be a tough choice for me between the two.  Hopefully I can get some test games in (but until my oldest son moves to MI next Summer, my time on the Pitch is limited).
