What's in store for 2021!

Happy New Year 2021!

Today is the day where I get to use my psychic powers and predict my gaming trends for 2021.

Yesterday I posted my "2020 Year in Review" and today we shall see what stays on the list and what is going away and if there are any new additions.

Arena Rex

Arena Rex is going to stay on the list for 2021, we do have some models painted along with terrain, so it is a nice quick game to occasionally throw down.

Painting Goal: None, I am not setting any expectations for painting.

Gaming Goal: I missed my planned goal of 5 games last year with only 2 played, so we are going to shoot for 3 games played in 2021.

DCU Miniature Game

DCU MG for now is staying on my list for 2021, but it slid way down to another occasional game.

Painting Goal: If Knight Models would ever ship me my models, there may actually be a goal in place.  I placed an order in November and still have not heard anything from them, honestly I do not think I ever will.  If my models arrive, then I may put a few on the painting table through out the year.

Gaming Goal: Just like with Arena Rex above, this game be played every now and then when we want to change it up.  I think 3 games played may be a good expectation.

Blitz Bowl / Blood Bowl

I am going to combine these 2 games in 1, Blitz Bowl being the quick board game style of play and Blood Bowl being more in depth.

Painting Goal: 1 full Blood Bowl team box of 12 players will be my goal for 2021, I really think this is attainable and may surprise myself with another.  I just need to decide which team will be first.

Gaming Goal: I have high expectations for Blood Bowl this year (at least with Blood Bowl 7's).  We are planning on playing an in house League with 4 Teams to start the new year off and then add a few Teams in future Seasons.  Blood Bowl does still take a few hours to play, so combing Blitz Bowl/Blood Bowl.... I am going to shoot for 30 games played in 2021.

Middle-earth SBG

In all honestly the re-watching of the Hobbit, Lord of the Rings movies toward the end of 2020 and it re-sparked my interest in the game.  We do own quite a few models for the game and I have recently added some more in the past few weeks.  Will the fire keep burning through all of 2021, that may be a tough one.  I may just have to re-watch a movie to light the spark again.

Painting Goal: I did buy a lot of models at the end of 2020 for quite a few different armies so I may concentrate on getting some of them done.  I am not really setting any goals or armies completed, where I can see myself painting a few models / warbands here and there through out the year.  There is a big convention in the Fall (that actually may happen) where it would probably kick my painting into high gear if I elect to play MeSBG there.

Gaming Goal:  My plan is to try and play 1 game a month, so in theory that would be 12 games for the year, but we all know other plans do happen.  So I am setting a goal of 10 games for 2021.

Warhammer 40,000

Just like in 2020, Warhammer 40,000 will more than likely be our primary game in 2021.  We have a lot of models and different armies to play/paint throughout the year.  With the ease of just going into any gaming store and picking out a new model when we want, it is the easiest to get a hold of all the games I have listed so far.

Painting Goal: With AdeptiCon 2021 already cancelled, it is tough to set any painting goals.  I think it will be more like MeSBG above and when I am in the mood to paint a model for Warhammer 40,000, I'll just paint it.  I have fully painted Imperial Fists army for 1000/1500/2000 point games, and plenty of more models to add to that army.

Gaming Goal: Last year I had a goal of 30 games and I hit it with 38 games played.  If we are not attending any events this year for Warhammer 40,000, I have it scheduled for twice a month which would be 24 games.  That is less than last year, but we are adding MeSBG and Blood Bowl into the mix.  I think I will stick to what is scheduled and set my goal of 24 games played in 2021.

X-Wing

X-Wing is a great game that can be played in 75 minutes, so it always seems to make the list for the New Year....plus we do have a lot of ships for the game.

Painting Goal: Not Applicable (pre-painted miniatures)

Gaming Goal: Last year I lowered my expectations with a goal of 6 games played, and I hit it with 10 games played.  For 2021 I will keep the same goal of 6 games played.  If more games are played again in 2021, that will be a bonus.

New Games for 2021?

This is a little tough one to decide.  Towards the end of 2020 we picked up Blood Bowl and I seem to have resurrected MeSBG, so it will be tough to get another game into 2021.

Is there a chance to also resurrect Warmachine/Hordes? I think that would be very slim.  I have been out of WM/H for awhile now and have not kept up with any of the changes.

What about bringing back Bolt Action? Possible, but slim also.

Then there is another game that is very easy to pick up at the gaming store, Warhammer Age of Sigmar.  All of my Warhammer Fantasy models are gone, and with Age of Sigmar they really changed the game, but AoS is played a lot like Warhammer 40,000 now and there are a few models that I really like, but you do need quite a few of them to play the game.  I can "maybe" see this game happening if MeSBG is not quite doing it for me (I enjoy the world of MeSBG and the models, it is the game play of almost always needing 6's on the dice that gets to me).  I think squeezing in AoS will be really tough unless something else gives.

Another possible interest may be Star Wars Legion, again there is quite a few models to this game and it is sci-fi like Warhammer 40,000.  When Legion was first released, there was not a lot of choices for models, but it has been out for a couple of years now and the line has grown.  It is hard to get into Legion when we have so many models already for Warhammer 40,000.

Events

Well the early part of 2021 is not looking good for events.  The Las Vegas Open in January and AdeptiCon in March have already been cancelled.  The next two larger events that interest us, NOVA Open and Renegade Open do not happen till the Fall, September/November.  Those two events are a possibility if the vaccine for COVID-19 works and gatherings are allowed again.  The problem with the Fall trips is that I still have a month long Europe trip scheduled for the Summer and getting more vacation time and dollars may be an issue.  If Europe gets cancelled once again for 2021, then there may be a chance.

The above is not set in stone, I like to look back at this post through out the year and see how I am doing and if anything changes.  There are only so many weekends in the year, and other interests sometimes do take some of that time.

We shall see what happens in 2021.

Weekly Chronicle 2019 #35 (NOVA Open 2019 Recap)

Well this one is going to be a little long since I will be recapping some of the highlights of this past weekends NOVA Open 2019.

First off with our standard weekly recap of models completed and games played while at home.....none....OK that was easy, onto the recap of NOVA Open 2019.

Thursday 8/29
Thursday was suppose to be our travel day and relax when we get onsite, but at the last minute we decided to sign up for the Guild Ball Regional Cup event that started at 12:00 PM, so that meant we would have to leave late Wednesday night in order to arrive in time.  The drive was very uneventful (which is great) and arrived onsite shortly after 10:00 AM.  Once we got situated with valet parking and checked-in with the NOVA Open, I got a text saying that our room was already ready which was great as we were able to drop off a few our items.  Once we did that, we headed downstairs to the ballroom floor and proceeded to the Steamforged Games room and checked in or the event.

During the pairings of the Rounds, they forgot to check "do not pair up with friends" and my son and I got to play each other during the First Round, I was actually OK with that since I was really tired from the long drive.  It was a very close game between the two of us, and my sons's Hunter's Guild got the win over my Butcher's 12-11.  Seeing how a "ringer" was being used for the event, I decided to drop out to make the players even again and go upstairs to our room for a nice nap.  When I awoke, the event was over and my son received Best Painted for my Hunter's.

Now that I was refreshed again, we headed out to grab some dinner before the evenings Keynote with Steamforged Games.  When we got back from dinner we proceeded to the seminar room and arrived a few minutes early, the Keynote was scheduled to start at 8:30 PM, due to technical difficulties, the actual Keynote did not start till 9:00 PM, the Apple MacBook that SFG brought with them did not have a HDMI port for the projector, luckily I had packed my Chromebook with me and they used it for the presentation.

Dom with SFG doing the Guild Ball presentation.

There was a lot of exciting news coming from Steamforged about Guild Ball and Godtear and I did take pictures of every slide for Guild Ball, but Steamforged Games made a blog posts the next day and you can read about Guild Ball HERE and Godtear HERE.

Once the Keynote was over, we hung and chatted a bit with Dom and Steve from SFG and picked their brains with a few more questions.  It was nice to actually talk with them in a relaxed environment.

We then retired for the night to get ready for the next day's X-Wing Grand Championships.

Friday 8/30
Friday was the X-Wing Grand Championships and my plan was to get in 2-3 games depending if I won game 1, basically once you lose 2 games, you are out of the event.  Well after game 1, I decided to retire.  Competitive X-Wing is not for me, I enjoy playing the game casually, but these guys are 'serious'.  I packed up my stuff and dropped it off in the room while my son continued on with his second game.  Once he was done with his second game we crossed the street to a nice deli grill for some lunch.  We came back and did a little shopping (picked up the new started decks for Star Wars Destiny) and then decided to go downstairs for a rematch of Guild Ball, my Butcher's lost again to his Hunter's.  Once we were done with our game, we headed up to our room and played a couple games of Destiny, I finally got my first win for the weekend.  Dinner was next at one of our usual locations Buffalo Wild Wings and then hung out a bit downstairs when we got back.

Saturday 8/31
Today was our main Guild Ball event, the Saturday Regional Cup, 12 Players were signed up for the event, so we were looking at 3-4 round event.  This time my first game was not paired up again my son, but instead I played Josh P who was playing The Order Guild.  Oh my god what a fun game this was, and I think my opponent had fun too, the jankiness the Order can do is amazing and it was a pretty tight game, but my Butcher's lost 12-8.  My second game was not as fun, I was paired up against Farmer's led by Thresher.  The Thresher playstyle seems to be just to sit back and wait and pick off your models one at a time, when I see this happen, it just puts me not in a good mood.  I ended up losing 12-8.  After Round 2, there was a player that dropped, so that left me with a Bye for the Round.  Instead of just sitting around, Dom from SFG filled in for a friendly against me, and guess what, it was Farmer's Thresher.  Now I knew what to expect, and the energetic level that Dom was playing with actually made the game more fun even though my Butcher's were being Taken Out left and right.  There was some excitement in Turn 1 when Layne went for a Goal run but Peck the Mascot from the Farmer's made a diving save (Get in the Goal!) luckily the ball bounced back to Layne (due to direction of scatter hitting Obstruction next to Layne), top of Turn 2, Layne was able to bury the ball into the back of the net.  I think those were the only 4 points I received and lost 12-4.  Due to the paired down player losing Round 3, the event actually ended after 3 Rounds.  Because of my Bye, I officially finished with a 1-2 record, my son had the same.

After dinner, my son and I came back down for a fourth game, I wanted to try a strategy that Dom had mentioned to me with Ox and my Butcher's, I finally got a real win in Guild Ball for the weekend, beating the Hunter's 12-10.

Our gaming for the weekend was now over...not too bad, 7 miniature games played and 2 games of Destiny.

Sunday 9/1
When we attended NOVA Open last year, we had spent the Saturday afternoon sightseeing Washington DC, well on that trip, we forgot to visit the National Archives Museum, so on this trip, we planned to visit the Museum on Sunday morning before driving back home.

Once again the drive home was uneventful (perfect) and we arrived home shortly before 11:00 PM.

NOVA Open is a good time, the drive is a bit long and honestly do not think we will be attending next year (as of now it is a very slim chance).  I think for next year it may be limited to just three conventions for the year,

Items from my swag bag (which some will go to the trash)

Items that I purchased, kept it reasonable

Battle Report: X-Wing 3/23/2019 (AdeptiCon Practice)

Yesterday my son and I played 2 games of X-Wing to get a little more practice for the X-Wing System Open Qualifier at AdeptiCon next Friday.  My son will not be playing in X-Wing (but instead Batman) but he still got in a few games for my much needed practice.

Last time I played a couple weeks back, I was testing a "Fat Han" list with just Han Solo and Wedge, a 2 ship list (Hyperspace legal), but since the AdeptiCon event is a System Open Qualifier and is an Extended Format event, I decided to change a few things up by putting Han on a diet and squeezing in a Bandit Squadron Pilot Z-95 ship.

Game 1:

My List:
Han Wedge Bandit v1.0

(82) Han Solo [Modified YT-1300 Light Freighter]
(5) Nien Nunb
(8) Perceptive Copilot
(6) Veteran Turret Gunner
(5) Lone Wolf
(6) Millennium Falcon
Points: 112

(52) Wedge Antilles [T-65 X-wing]
(2) R4 Astromech
(0) Servomotor S-foils
(5) Hull Upgrade
(6) Outmaneuver
Points: 65

(23) Bandit Squadron Pilot [Z-95-AF4 Headhunter]
Points: 23

Total points: 200

My Son:
Luke Wedge Norra

(62) Luke Skywalker [T-65 X-wing]
(2) R4 Astromech
(0) Servomotor S-foils
(12) Proton Torpedoes
(2) Instinctive Aim
Points: 78

(52) Wedge Antilles [T-65 X-wing]
(6) Outmaneuver
(2) R4 Astromech
(0) Servomotor S-foils
Points: 60

(55) Norra Wexley [ARC-170 Starfighter]
(4) Veteran Tail Gunner
(2) Predator
Points: 61

Total points: 199

I learn to fly the YT-1300 a little better than last time and managed to keep the ship on the mat.  My Rebel list was able to destroy all of my son's Rebel ships for the victory.  I did manage to lose my T-65 and my Z-95 in this but the YT-1300 was still flying.

Game 2:

In this Game, I played again with my same list, and my son changed his up a bit by dropping the ARC-170 and adding another T-65 with Biggs.  The 3 Rebel T-65's managed to bring down Han in this game, but my Wedge and my Bandit Squadron Pilot were able to finish them off with the Bandit Pilot getting 2 direct hits to finish off Luke Skywalker.

X-Wing: Wave III Is Available Now

Today March 21st marks the release of Wave III for X-Wing 2.0.  Since the release of X-Wing 2.0 I have not really purchased that many new ships.  Back in Wave 1 I did purchase 'Lando's Millennium Falcon' and couple of 'Fang Fighters', but other than that, my son and I have been playing with our ships (with new upgrades) from 1.0.

There is not really too much also that interests me from today's release of Wave III except for maybe the 'Sith Infiltrator Expansion Pack', this one will come with a pilot card for 'Darth Maul'.

Seeing how AdeptiCon is less than a week away, more than likely any purchases my son and I make we will just wait for AdeptiCon.

Here is a list of ships for the the Wave III release:

Weekly Chronicle 2019 #11

Week #11 for 2019 is now in the books and it was a "good" week, not bad, not great, just good.

Wednesday night I was able to throw down my Navigator's Guild and get in a game vs Hunter's, and on Friday I was actually able to finish painting another model for my Butcher's Guild with the new 'Veteran Boar'.

Then on Saturday I hosted my first ever Guild Ball Tournament down in South Bend, IN and I think it was very successful.  We had 15 players come out for the event, and I hope everyone had a good time.

What is in store for this week? I have a 'Mataagi' for the Hunter's Guild that I think my son is going to want me to finish for AdeptiCon, not sure if it will be completed but it will be close, and then we still need to practice practice practice.  We have no major plans coming up this weekend, so it may be a perfect time to get in quite a few Guild Ball and X-Wing games in before AdeptiCon, we shall see....

X-Wing: Mini Duels Tournament Tray

Since I have gotten back into X-Wing with the release of 2.0 back in September, I have been looking around for some compact tournament trays to hold our movement sticks and ships while moving tables in between rounds.

There were some European companies that had some very nice acrylic ones, but the ship trays were not yet updated to 2.0 (adding a medium sized ship), I noticed the same thing while looking for some made out of MDF here in the US.

Then last week I decided to take another look at Mini Duels (I knew that I had made MDF trays and are US based) and came across a compact X-Wing try that now had slots for medium sized ships and was exactly what I was looking for.  So I decided to go ahead and order 2 sets (one for me and one for my son) and was hoping it would be here in time for AdeptiCon.

Well shipping was quick and last Friday my trays arrived and I assembled/glued them that night.  Yesterday I decided to take some time and paint them up black like I did with my Guild Ball tray.

The trays are now complete and ready for AdeptiCon.

Weekly Chronicle 2019 #10

I just wrapped up Week #10 for 2019 and once again it has been a so-so week.

Nothing was completed from the Painting Queue, but 'Veteran Boar' was assembled and some of the base colors are being applied.  My goal is to have him completed by AdeptiCon, but realistically it should not take that long, hopefully within the next week or two he should be completed.

I was happy to get in 2 games over the weekend, another refresher for X-Wing (which was a difficult loss) and another Guild Ball game with a 'Veteran Boar' stand-in.

This coming Saturday March 16th is my first event as a SFG Pundit and there will be a Guild Ball Tournament at Fantasy Games in South Bend, IN.

There are still 2 spots remaining and you can signup up on Longshanks.

I'll more than likely do a quick recap of the event on Sunday morning.

Other than that, only 16 days till AdeptiCon 2019, and I think it will be a pretty good time.

Battle Report: X-Wing 3/9/2019 (Rebels vs Empire)

Yesterday morning  I was able to get in another practice game with my "Fat Han" list against my son (though it turned out it was not much practice with the Falcon).  I asked my son if he could fly a Tie list so I could see how well my 2 ship list would hold up against multiple ships.

I made a slight change to my list from my last game, dropping R2-D2 for Perceptive Copilot.

My "Fat Han" List v1.1:

Modified YT-1300 Light Freighter - •Han Solo - 132
Han Solo - Scoundrel for Hire (82)
Lone Wolf (5)
Nien Nunb (5)
Perceptive Copilot (8)
Millennium Falconn(6)
Luke Skywalker (26)

T-65 X-wing - •Wedge Antilles - 66
Wedge Antilles - Red Two (52)
Outmaneuver (6)
R4 Astromech (2)
Shield Upgrade (6)
Servomotor S-foils (Closed) (0)

Total: 198/200

Son's Empire List:

TIE/ln Fighter - Academy Pilot - 23
Academy Pilot (23)

TIE/ln Fighter - Academy Pilot - 23
Academy Pilot (23)

TIE/ln Fighter - Academy Pilot - 23
Academy Pilot (23)

TIE/ln Fighter - Academy Pilot - 23
Academy Pilot (23)

TIE/ln Fighter - Academy Pilot - 23
Academy Pilot (23)

TIE Advanced x1 - •Darth Vader - 85
Darth Vader - Black Leader (65)
Collision Detector (6)
Cluster Missiles (5)
Hull Upgrade (7)
Instinctive Aim (2)

Total: 200/200

Well the game was going really good through the first 3 Turns of the game, Wedge had taken out a Tie, so did Han, but then I got the Falcon stuck too close to the edge of the board with no place to go.  Turn 4, the Falcon flew off the board and it was all up to Wedge.

I tried to bounce back the best i could and Wedge was rolling some hot dice to Evade, but when the clock had expired, it was Wedge vs Vader and Vader just got the Hull of the X-Wing below half.

Empire won 165-115 (MOV: 250-150)

It has been too long since flying large based ships (I was getting used to the medium of Boba Fett), but If I did not fly off the board, I think the outcome would have been different.

I still like this list a lot, I need to decide soon which I want to play for AdeptiCon (but I am still leaning towards this one).

Weekly Chronicle 2019 #9

We are into the first week of March and the first quarter of the year is almost over and I seem to be behind in my gaming and way behind in my painting.

All honesty regarding  the painting, I am actually okay with that.  My main game that I am playing is Guild Ball, and my favorite Guild (Butcher's) and my son's Guild (Hunter's) are all completed (for now).  My Butcher's Guild will be receiving 'Veteran Boar' this week, and shortly there after I should be receiving 'Steeljaw' for the Hunter's, so both of these models will then hit the painting table.  I then need to decide what I am doing with the Cook's Minor Guild, I really want to have 'Roast' and 'Cinnamon' completed so they can play with the Butcher's, but then I might as well get the rest of the Cook's completed.

Last week was not actually too bad in both departments.  I was able to paint up the 3D Goals we received from Bourbon Trail Open IV, and I was able to get in games of Destiny, X-Wing and Guild Ball last week.  More than likely, gaming this week may repeat what was played last week.

Stay tuned this week for some of the new Guild Ball models that should be arriving any day.

Battle Report: X-Wing 3/2/2019 (Rebels vs Rebels)

WOW, this is actually post #1000 dating all the way back to 2009!

It has been awhile since I last played X-Wing, and I really need more practice before AdeptiCon comes up on us in a few weeks, not that I am going to get in a win at AdeptiCon, but it would be nice to fly my ships knowing the rules.

This morning I woke up my son early (early for him) and we got in a game of X-Wing in before he left for work.  I have been basically flying 'Scum & Villainy' since the release of X-Wing 2.0 (and I really do like Boba Fett), but I decided to go try a "Fat Han" list and see how I like it.  I used to like flying a "Fat Han" back in X-Wing 1.0, or a double YT-1300 lists, but the norm in X-Wing 2.0 has been to fly 3+ ships, well let's see how this new "Fat Han" list works.

My "Fat Han" List:

Modified YT-1300 Light Freighter - •Han Solo - 132
Han Solo - Scoundrel for Hire (82)
Lone Wolf (5)
Nien Nunb (5)
R2-D2 (8)
Millennium Falconn(6)
Luke Skywalker (26)

T-65 X-wing - •Wedge Antilles - 66
Wedge Antilles - Red Two (52)
Outmaneuver (6)
R4 Astromech (2)
Shield Upgrade (6)
Servomotor S-foils (Closed) (0)

Total: 198/200

Son's Rebel List:

T-65 X-wing - Blue Squadron Escort - 41
Blue Squadron Escort -  (41)
Servomotor S-foils (Open) (0)

T-65 X-wing - Blue Squadron Escort - 41
Blue Squadron Escort - (41)
Servomotor S-foils (Open) (0)

Z-95-AF4 Headhunter - •Lieutenant Blount - 36
Lieutenant Blount - Team Player (30)
Marksmanship (1)
Cluster Missiles (5)

T-65 X-wing - •Luke Skywalker - 82
Luke Skywalker - Red Five (62)
Proton Torpedoes (12)
R2-D2 (6)
Instinctive Aim (2)
Servomotor S-foils (Open) (0)

Total: 200/200

The game played the way I wanted it, I was able to attract my sons Rebel ships to go after wedge while Han was able to come up the flank.

The enemy Rebels were able to get Wedge down to 1 Hull Point left and Wedge was about to kick in the afterburners and fly and leave it up to Han, but at the last moment Han spoke to Wedge and told him to get back into fight and Wedge did a sharp right turn about and placed his ship perfectly behind 3 of the enemy ships.  Han and Wedge were now able to whittle down the enemy Rebels.  All that was left was to destroy Luke Skywalker.  Wedge took his shots from the rear, and Han finished him off from the front for the win.

Weekly Chronicle 2019 #6

Another pretty slow week has come and gone for me.  Painting wise nothing has been completed and is looking like a pretty poor year in that regards, currently I am in the mentality of just playing what I already have painted and it may look like that for most of the year.

I did manage a few games in this week, 2 games of Destiny last Monday night, and a game of Guild Ball yesterday morning.  I have a semi local event coming up this Saturday in Grand Rapids and I would like to get in one more practice game this week before heading up there.

Weekly Chronicle 2019 #3

It was another bad week in the painting department for me this week, and it looks like it will continue that way for the rest of the month.  I'll be heading out of town next weekend for a week, and nights this week look to be busy too.  Maybe tomorrow night I may be able to finish off the model that has been sitting on my painting station.

At least this past week I did make up for it with a few games.  I was able to get in 3 games of Guild Ball, and quick game of Destiny in.  It has only been 4 games of Guild Ball in so far this month and I am a little behind schedule of my goal of 50 games played for the year.  Missing out on a tournament last weekend has cost me a few games, but I do have a lot of events scheduled for the year so i should still be able to hit my goal......but....we still also have a lot of other games we need to try and squeeze in this year also.  I have not touched X-Wing this year so far and it is just over two month's till AdeptiCon where I will be playing in an event there.  Depending on how work goes today, we may be able to squeeze in a game tonight.

Weekly Chronicle 2018 #51

Week #51 was a very slow week for me.  Besides a few games of Star Wars Destiny last Monday night, nothing else was played for the week.  It did not help that I was sick for most of the week and then when the weekend came, I had to do a little cleaning for the Holidays.

I am off work this week, so hopefully I will be able to get in a few games, maybe one in tomorrow and then a few in on Thursday (that's the plan for now).

No painting was also completed last week, but I did prep a few models to get ready for 2019.

Weekly Chronicle 2018 #50

Week #50 has come to an end and there is only 2 more weeks left in 2018.  I think this past week was a pretty decent week for me, not really too much but not that little also.

I was able to get in a game of Star Wars Destiny on Monday, Guild Ball on Thursday and Sunday, and my son and I played 2 Rounds of Warmachine/Hordes on Saturday night (as time was running out on us).

For completed painted models, it was also a good week.  I was able to complete 6 models and I have 2 more in the queue for this week.  Completed models were: 'LE Cheese Ball', 'Veteran Chisel', 'Zombie Thresher', 'Blackheart's Grave', 'Ghast's Grave' and 'Greyscale's Grave'.

Once the remaining 2 "The Dark Harvest" models are completed, I do not think much more will be done for the rest of this year.  More than likely I will start and prep models for January 2019 and enjoy the last week of the year getting in a few more games.

The end of the year is approaching and I am looking forward to the new year and working on my list of expectations for 2019 (my annual New Year's Day post).  We still have a few more weeks left in 2018 and I am 7 Painting Points shy of beating last year's mark of 320 Points.  Looks like I better hurry up and get some models ready for the painting table.  It is not like I do not have any models in my Painting Queue Backlog, but some of the items I am saving for 2019 (mainly tackling the Minor Guilds for Guild Ball), but I thought of some models yesterday afternoon that should just put me past last year's mark.

Back onto my recap of week #49.

Painting: Last week only 1 model was completed with 'Veteran Hearne' for my son's Hunter's Guild Ball team, I am glad he got completed and that was the last model for the Guild.  Nothing else was completed, but a few models did get ready for this week.

Gaming:  Last week did not see many Battle Reports, on Monday night and yesterday my son and i got in a game of Star Wars Destiny (for which I do not write any Battle Reports), then this past Saturday I spent all day at the "Holiday Guild Ball" tournament in Grand Rapids in which I did manage to play 4 games of Guild Ball.

I am not really sure what is in store for this week gaming wise.  We picked up a few more booster packs of Star Wars Destiny yesterday, so we may play that either tonight or Thursday night, then the opposite night will be a game of Guild Ball (most likely) and hoping for another game of X-Wing or Arena Rex on Friday.  It has been a little while since our last game of Arena Rex, who know's, maybe we'll play that tonight.  On Sunday I will be heading down to Fantasy Games in South Bend to cover Guild Ball Open Play while my SFG Pundit counter-part will be playing in a Guild Ball tournament in Chicago.  In between all of this, I still have models to paint.  Here is to week #50.

Models Completed: 1

Games Played: 6

Weekly Chronicle 2018 #48

I would have to say that last week was a pretty good week for me modeling and gaming.  My Mortician's Guild were able to get completed with the last three models being 'Veteran Graves', 'Brainpan' & 'Memory'.

Gaming wise, my son and I got in a few games of Star Wars: Destiny in, and I was able to get in games of Guild Ball on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.  Friday night my son and I also squeezed in a game of X-Wing (which was a nice change of pace).

The problem with playing more games is that I then fall behind on prepping models in my Painting Queue/Backlog and I only have one model currently ready to hit my painting table.  I am hoping that I can probably start on it tomorrow night and "maybe" get it done this week, but we will have to see.  I have a Guild Ball tournament coming up on Saturday, and Sunday is Guild Ball open play down in South Bend (and I usually can get a lot painted on the weekends.)  I may have to skip open play this coming Sunday so I can catch up on building some models and getting them prepped, which may not be a bad idea since I will be coming home later on Saturday from the tournament.
