W40K: Imperial Fists 'Heavy Intercessors I'

As I wrote in Mondays "Weekly Chronicle", I am still wrapping up a few units that I want to use in the Las Vegas Open 2022 Warhammer 40,000 Friendly event.

I can now technically call myself done (barring the Forge World model also mentioned, but still undecided on that one).

The 'Heavy Intercessors' are a new Troop choice in Warhammer 40,000 for the Space Marines, and when building them, you get a choice of three different bolt weapons to choose from.

I elected to army my first squad of 'Heavy Intercessors' with the "Executor Bolt Rifle / Executor Heavy Bolter".  This weapon has less shots, but the shots are more powerful with a stronger AP, greater damage and longer range.  The plan with this Squad is to be back with my 'Intercessor Stalkers' and taking advantage of my 'Primaris Chapter Master'.

W40K: Imperial Fists 'Land Speeder I'

You know an event is coming soon if i am painting more and posting more to the blog.  Las Vegas Open 2022 is in January and I am wrapping up my Imperial Fists army for the Warhammer 40,000 Friendly event.

The Warhammer 40,000 Friendly event is a themed list event, and my theme is the Bolter fire of the Imperial Fists.  So here is the first of two 'Land Speeders' with Heavy Bolters.

W40K: Imperial Fists 'Predator Destructor I'

The year has been pretty slow with my blogging (and modeling in general) and I feel like this blog is becoming more of a "model tracker" for myself rather than any kind of source of news, witch I am okay with that, I am always using my own site here as a reference for my previously worked on models.

With the Las Vegas Open 2022 coming at the end of January, it is time to start finishing out the lists that I m thinking about.  The Warhammer 40,000 Friendly at LVO is all about having fun with themed lists, so for my Imperial Fists army, I am planning on playing an all "bolt" army with them.  In order for this to happen, I need to finish a few models, and one of them is this Predator Destructor.

W40K: Imperial Fists 'Razorback I'

Wow, I cannot believe I actually got some models completed, it has been 5 months since I last completed anything.

Events are starting to ramp back up, so that now means models need to get completed to flush out our lists.  We have a 1500 Point Friendly in October and a 2000 Point Friendly in January, so I wanted to add more "Bolter"s to my Imperial Fists Army.  So what better way to do that than with a 'Razorback' armed with Heavy Bolters.

W40K: Imperial Fists 'Primaris Invader ATV III'

The final 'Primaris Invader ATV' of three that I completed this week, this one is identical to I and II.

Some people joked about this model when it was first previewed, saying that it looks a lot like Mario Cart, but I actually think the model looks pretty cool and fills a nice role for my army, anything with a weapon of S7 or greater is good for my Imperial Fists, especially during Round 1.

W40K: Imperial Fists 'Primaris Invader ATV II'

Today is the second of three 'Primaris Invader ATVs' completed for my Imperial Fists army.

How do I know that this is #2 in the Squad?  If you look to the right of the main gun and down a bit, you will see three markings on the ATV, they are painted yellow for which number it is.  Here is a link to yesterday's post if you want to compare.

W40K: Imperial Fists 'Primaris Invader ATV I'

Well I was able to work on my 'Primaris Invader ATVs' this week (I did get on start on them over the past weekend) and I am happy to say that they are all completed.

Here is the first of three 'Primaris Invader ATV I', both weapon options were painted in case I eventually do want to swap them around.

W40K: Imperial Fists 'Primaris Impulsor II'

I obviously painted 'Primaris Impulsor I' at the same time as 'Primaris Impulsor II' since it is posted the day after.

I am glad that both of these models are now completed and I can move onto other projects (been busy building Kharadron Overlords for Warhammer Age of Sigmar).  I am not really sure what will be painted next for my Imperial Fists, more than likely I will probably tackle the three 'Primaris Invader ATVs' that I already have assembled.  I am just debating if I want to paint these next or move onto some Warriors for Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game.

W40K: Imperial Fists 'Primaris Impulsor I'

The backlog of grey plastic is not really too bad, at least for my Imperial Fists army for Warhammer 40,000, let's not get started on everything else, nonetheless I do still want to get as much of it completed this year as I can.

Even though my Imperial Fists like to stand back and shoot and then capture Objectives, sometimes having a Transport can be handy (too rush and hold an Objective), plus I personally really like the model.  I ended up purchasing two of them last year after Indomitus came out (mainly for my 'Assault Intercessors') but they will also see use with regular 'Intercessors'.

Here is the first of two 'Primaris Impulsors'.

W40K: Imperial Fists 'Stormhawk Interceptor I'

What a great way to start of 2021! Having completed a new model for my Imperial Fists army for Warhammer 40,000.

Back in November while we spent a weekend gaming in Wisconsin, we decided to stop at the Warhammer store in Madison.  While there they had a 'Stormhawk Interceptor' Flyer, and I grabbed the last one.  My son had just assembled one for his Dark Angels army and was trying it out that weekend, and I thought the model looked pretty cool and wanted one for myself.

In all honestly I actually forgot I purchased this model till the other day.  I then looked through my stack of Space Marine models and sure enough it was sitting there.

I then decided to break open the box and start the assembly process.  There are a couple of different weapon options you can use to kit out the model, mainly with the side sponsons.  Instead of the typical Missile Launchers, I elected to use Heavy Bolters to stay in theme with my Imperial Fists.

Here we have it, the first model for 2021, a 'Stormhawk Interceptor'.

W40K: Imperial Fists 'Primaris Techmarine I'

Good news for me, I was able to get another model completed before the end of 2020, not sure if another model will be squeezed in, so this may be the last (I will probably spend most of the rest of the year getting models assembled for 2021, if some of my orders arrive).

I picked up this 'Primaris Techmarine' a few weeks back and quickly assembled it for my weekend gaming trip to Wisconsin back in November.  Now it was time for the model to hit the painting table.  With the points of the 'Leviathan Dreadnought', I think it will be making my lists quite often, so this 'Primaris Techmarine' is a perfect addition to help keep him alive and an added benefit of +1 to hit.

W40K: Imperial Fists 'Primaris Lieutenant Indomitus'

On Thanksgiving day playing on TV was The Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies and I thought to myself this would be a perfect time to watch the movie an get some painting done (along with getting the turkey ready).  Next thing I know that by the time the movie was over, my model was just about completed also.

Since the release of the latest Space Marine Codex for Warhammer 40,000 9th Edition, you can no longer run two Captains in a single Detachment which has hurt me in some of my existing lists, I guess Games Workshop wants us to start using some of the Lieutenant models they have released in the recent years.

As you saw a few weeks back, I finished a Lieutenant in Phobos Armour, now I was working on the Lieutenant that came inside the Indomitus box.  I am sticking to a pattern with my Character Units, my Captains and above all have a Gold right shoulder pad, with my Lieutenants I decided to go with Silver and have done the same with this model.

W40K: Imperial Fists 'Primaris Lieutenant in Phobos Armour'

Awhile ago I purchased the Space Marines Vanguard box set so I could have a Unit of 'Suppressors', inside that box also came a 'Primaris Lieutenant in Phobos Armour'.

Now with the release of the new Space Marines Codex, you can only run one "Captain" per Detachment, so the need for a "Lieutenant" is now greater.  So what a better time to finally get a "Lieutenant" completed.

I really love the way this model came out and I am finally happy with how my matte varnish spray finished.  I mentioned the other day that my favorite Testors Dull Cote has been discontinued.  Shortly after posting that I found an online retailer (semi local...same state) michtoy.com that just recently wrote a blog post about this and how he did some comparison tests.  The winner was actually from AK Interactive (and it seems a lot of hobbyist use this one) but you must apply it with an airbrush.  I am fine with using an airbrush, but it takes me longer to get it out and then have to clean it and put in back than a spray can.  At the end of his blog post he mentions if you want a spray can equivalent, then try Vallejo Acrylic Matt Varnish.

I ordered two cans that day and boy were they fast with shipping.  My package arrived yesterday and I was able to spray my 'Lieutenant'.  The finished result is much better than what I was getting lately from Testors (ever since they sold to Rustoleum) and it comes out a little cheaper too (that is always a plus).  I just hope that this can will still be easy to find and the results stay the same.

W40K: Imperial Fists 'Eradicator Squad II'

As I mentioned in yesterdays post, I decided to work on all 6 of my 'Eradicators' at the same time, 2 Units of 3 are how I have them officially marked for myself, but they can be played as 1 Unit of 6.

Yesterdays models also put me over 200 Painting Points for the year.  Not as good as the previous 3 years, but I took a lot of time off late Spring, all through Summer and early Fall.  Since most of our games (actually all) have been played at home now, playing the models unpainted does not bother me as much as years past/

To mark these guys as complete, here is the second Unit of 3 'Eradicators'

W40K: Imperial Fists 'Eradicator Squad I'

It has been a long time that I had models completed two weeks in a row.  It seems that late Fall through Spring is usually when I pick up the pace of my painting.  Most of the time it is with the announcement of AdeptiCon that kicks me into high gear to get models completed, but for 2021 we are still waiting for the news.  With how things are looking with COVID-19, I really do not see an AdeptiCon for 2021.  The hope/plan will then be to try and make some smaller one day tournaments in 2020.

Anyways, back on topic, after my game this past weekend I started to prep my 'Eradicators' (all 6) for painting and this week I managed to find time to actually complete them.  I am really happy with that, it seems like the 'Eradicators' are currently the "must have" Unit in an army for now, so being able to complete these feels great.

I did have some issues with the anti-shine matte spray, testing a new brand, Army Painter, since my current go to which has always been Testors dullcote has been officially discontinued.  Hopefully soon I will be able to figure out this new brand (working on some test models now).

These 'Eradicators' came from the Indomitus boxed set and each box came with a Unit of 3.  With the release of the new Space Marines Codex, you can now also run them as a Unit of 6, for now I am keeing them as 3 and can always merge them into 1 if need be.
