WM: Khador Karchev the Terrible (Warcaster)

I love Warcasters that can really do a beat down on the offensive instead of just sitting back and playing defensive, hence the reason I always seem to fall back and play with ‘Butcher 1’.  Well I finally got another beat down Warcaster for my Khador army in ‘Karchev the Terrible’

MAN IN THE MACHINE “Karchev is a living model but is neither warjack nor a warrior model.  He has a damage frid and suffers damage like a warjack.......”

With 34 boxes of damage, he has the most boxes of all my Warcasters, and hopefully can last longer on the battlefield, he can also be REPAIRABLE from my ‘Battle Mechaniks’ or if I decide to run my ‘Gobber Tinker’ also.

He has a DEF 12, ARM 19 so he can easily be hit in melee, but his his ARM (+2 in melee) should help keep him alive.  For his damage output, he has a SP10 gun POW 12 and an Open Fist P+S 15 and his Sunder P+S 19 with a RNG of 2.  Very similar to a ‘Juggernaut’ in regards to damage output, but he can also cast spells.  He has two very useful spells, BATTLE-CHARGED granting his battlegroup Countercharge, and JUMPSTART that allows his battlegroup to stand up and are no longer stationary.

Now I just need to get in a few test games with him and see how he actually does on the tabletop.  My plan is to run him with a couple of ‘Greylord Forge Seers’ to help with the Focus on the Warjacks, so I have those models next on the painting table.

WM: Khador Battle Mechaniks (Unit)

I really do not prefer painting Units, but they have to get done also, so I tend to assembly line my Unit models.  Honestly I do not think they came out to shabby.  In order to try and save some time on the “death clock”, I have been leaning more towards playing the “Jaws of Wolf” theme which is usually a Warjack heavy list.  Well with all those Warjacks, I need a Unit that can repair them.  While base to base, each ‘Battle Mechanik’ model can heal a Warjack for D3 damage removal.  This is very beneficial  when you really need that axe arm back on your ‘Juggernaut’.  One problem I am still trying to learn with them is keeping them all in Command range while trying to heal all my different Warjacks.

With this Unit now completed, my main list for the NOVA Open is completed, now it is time to add some model to my painting table so I can try out a few different lists.

WM: Khador Kodiak 2 (Warjack)

Very similar to  my ‘Kodiak 1’ I finished this past Sunday, I now have completed my ‘Kodiak 2’.  Both of these models I purchased for a great price at this years AdeptiCon, and now both are completed.  I did much better with this purchase from AdeptiCon compared to last years where I still have model sitting unfinished in their boxes.

Up next will be to finish up my ‘Battle Mechaniks’ and then probably move onto ‘Karchev’ which arrived yesterday afternoon.  Once ‘Karchev’ is completed I then may tackle both of my ‘Greylord Forge Seers’, but we’ll see, I may want to change it up a bit.

WM: Khador Kodiak 1 (Warjack)

What can be better than starting off a new month and painting quarter than with a finished model.  I finally got around to sit down and get some painting completed (along with some gaming) over the last couple of days.  It actually feels good to have another model finished, it has been way too long (April 5, 2018).

For one of my lists for the NOVA Open, I need to complete 2 ‘Kodiak’ Warjacks and a Unit of ‘Battle Mechaniks’, so those models at this moment are my priority.  I have a few different lists that I may want to play, but I also need to complete models for those lists too.  So right now I will start with above and once completed, I can tackle the other lists.

First up on the list, we have ‘Kodiak 1’.

WM: Khador Man-O-War Assault/Siege Chariot Arrived

This past weekend my Khador ‘Man-O-War Assault/Siege Chariot’ arrived from Black Anchor Heavy Industries (Privateer Press), and I was so busy putting our main bathroom back together that I forgot I received the package till yesterday afternoon.  Once I remembered about it, I had to open it and take a few pictures and I wanted to check out the BAHI truckers hats that came with it.

The flashing on the resin is not too bad, looks like it will be pretty easy to clean up, but one of the horses legs was broken.  Looks to be a clean break and should heal pretty good, does not look like I will have to put that horse down.

I do not remember when I assembled my ‘Dracodile’ from BAHI if it came with assembly instructions, but the ‘Man-O-War Assault/Siege Chariot’ does not come with any (wish that it did).  I did do a dry fit of some of the pieces and it does not look like it will be too hard to put together.  The two gun options also look like they can be easily swapped out (even without magnets) which is a nice option.

I am actually going to play a 50 point game tonight with my son and proxy base this model too see how it plays.  Currently there is no Theme for this model, so we’ll see how the game goes.

WM: Khador Man-O-War Assault/Siege Chariot Pre-Order

Yesterday was the last day to pre-order a Khador Man-O-War Assault/Siege Chariot from Black Anchor Heavy Industries and receive a free Truckers Hat.  I thought the hat would look real nice with the T-Shirt I already have from ordering the ‘Dracodile’ late last year so I bit the bullet and placed my order yesterday.  Not sure when this model will get painted (eventually) but it is the first Battle Engine that I have for my Khador army.  I hear there will probably be a Man-O-War box coming out later this year also, I may also need to add that to my Khador army to change it up a bit from playing Winter Guard all the time.

The Man-O-War Assault/Siege Chariot kit includes:

  • Man-O-War Chariot
  • Man-O-War Driver
  • Horses (x2)
  • Weapons and equipment for Man-O-War Assault Chariot
  • Weapons and equioment for Man-O-War Siege Chariot

WM: Khador Decimator 1 (Warjack)

I almost forgot to post this today (I was deep in thought about my Hordes game tonight) but I finally was able to finsh my ‘Decimator’ Warjack for my Khador army.  I started this model awhile ago and just was slowly adding colors to him as I had time, well last night I decided to actually finish him up.  This model came from the battlegroup box and I did not realize how crappy the plastic was until I started to paint him.  I should have taken some more time to really look him over and clean him up before I primed him.  I have another Khador battlegroup box on my shelf, when I get to those models I’ll be sure to really look them over.

WM: Mercenaries Orin Midwinter (Solo)

It has been a little over two years since I last painted a Warmachine Mercenary model (mostly now it is my Hordes models with a few Khador), but this Solo, ‘Orin Midwinter’ is needed in my Minions list I am working on for the NOVA Open at the end of August and it gives me my first painted model for the month of April.

‘Orin Midwinter’ is mainly used for his ARCANE VORTEX which allows him to spend a power token to negate a spell that targets a model with 3” of it (he starts the game with 3 power tokens).  ‘Orin’ also has CHAIN LIGHTNING (*ATTACK) which I can see help take down some pesty infantry.  I should be getting a game in this Thursday night, so we’ll see how he works.

Hordes: Trollbloods Earthborn Dire Troll (Warbeast)

I have another Hordes model completed this week for Trollbloods and it is another Warbeast painted in my new green scheme.  Today I present the ‘Earthborn Dire Troll’.

I do have to figure out a better way to photos though.  Currently for the longest time I have just been using my phone (because it is faster and the photo then is already on my ipad to add to my blogging app), I may have to try and use a regular digital camera again sometime in the future and and see if it looks a bit better.  I will also have to look for a place where I can set my lightbox, I stopped using it becasue I was not fond of the crease in backdrop, this year at AdeptiCon I may have to break down and get one of the neoprene backdrops I saw last year.

WM: Khador Kayazy Eliminators 2 (Unit)

With these two fine ladies my AdeptiCon Warmachine/Hordes ‘Who’s The Boss’ list is now complete.  Just like with yesterday’s Unit, these ladies were meant to just be painted quickly.  We are also on the last day of February so tomorrow starts off a new month and month to have some fun with some models.  All my models are ready for AdeptiCon so I can take a little time on work on some Trollbloods and maybe through in a Guild Ball Blacksmith model every now and then.

WM: Khador Kayazy Eliminators 1 (Unit)

“Git-R-Done” was about all I was thinking when I started working on my 2 Units of ‘Kayazy Eliminators’ this past Sunday.  For one I did not even realize I owned these Units until I decided to dig through my gaming bag, and two, AdeptiCon is not that far away and I wanted them done for the ‘Who’s The Boss’ Tournament.  I am OK with them, I am not one who goes out and wins or wants to win painting awards, I just prefer to play with painted models (anything is better than bare metal, plastic or just plain primer).

WM: Khador Winter Guard Rifle Corps (Unit)

I have been putting off getting these models completed the last few weeks, but Friday night and yesterday I sat my but down in the painting chair and got them completed.  Nothing too fancy with these guys (just a speed paint) to have them completed and table top quality.  As I mentioned yesterday, painting Units are boring for me.  I did do a quick compare of my ‘Winter Guard Infantry’ I painted many years ago, and these ‘Winter Guard Rifle Corps’ actually do not look too bad compared to them.  They will fit right in with my ‘dirty’, ‘war-torn’ look I have with my Khador army.

The ‘Winter Guard Rifle Corps’ are the heart of almost every Khador army and I never previosly had owned the models, I was always trying to accomplish the same tasks just by using the Infantry instead.  It’ll be nice to see exactly what these models can do.

Technically these were the last models I needed to finish for AdeptiCon in 25 days (and I am happy that I am done)...but...there may be a few more models I will try and complete next for my Khador.  I have 2 Units of ‘Kayazy Eliminators’ that I may try and get done.  These 2 Units would fit real nice in my Who’s The Boss list I have planned.  If I do not get them completed, I am happy with what I have done.

WM: Progress On The Khador Winter Guard Rifle Corps

After finally just sitting on my painting table assembled and primed for days, I finally made some progress on my Khador ‘Winter Guard Rifle Corps’.  For some reason I have not had the passion to complete this Unit.  I am not much into painting Units anymore and prefer painting the Warjacks/Warbeasts, Warcaster/Warlocks and Solos.  That is probably why I also like to paint Guidl Ball so much, each model is unique.  Well it can definitely show on these guys and will look good on the table top from 10’ away.

The plan is to get them completed today and then tomorrow they go for their dullcote, I think that will also be the last of my dullcote so a run to the store will also be needed this weekend (if my local Michael’s has anymore in stock).

Back to painting....

Hordes: Minions Boil Master & Spirit Cauldron (Unit)

Now back to a few Minion models for the week and we start it all off with the final models (Unit) needed for my half of the 2018 AdeptiCon Warmachine/Hordes Team Tournament with ‘Boil Master & Spirit Cauldron’.

‘Boil Master & Spirit Cauldron’ are a “given” when running a ‘Barnabas 2’ list since he can benefit greatly from the corpse tokens it can collect and generate.  The ‘Cauldron’ can also deliver corpse tokens to friendly models that are within 5” once per turn during it’s activation.  Most fo the current ‘Baranabas 2’ lists that are out there are trying to squeeze in 2 of these Units, but unfortunately I had my friend only purchase me one at the LVO.  It did just get release to the general public back on the 9th of this month, so I still may end up with a second one in the future (we shall see how this one plays out).  Now my partners half of his Team Tournament list can also benefit from the ‘Cauldron’ since it says “friendly” model and not “friendly faction”, but trying to get two of them in a 35 point list would be really tough.

Now all I need to do to get ready for the Team Tournament is play some games and see what ‘Barnabas 2’ can do.

WM/H: Khador-Minions Weekend Prep Work 2/11/2018

Sundays are usually my day to prep models for the upcoming week, no different today.  Since I am still undecided what my plans are for AdeptiCon 2018, I need to get myself prepared and start building my Khador ‘Winterguard Rifle Corps’, and these guys were not fun to build at all.  I spoiled myself lately with the new resin models and metal models that I forgot about all the little pieces that need to be glued on plastic models.

I also decided to start assembling my ‘Gatorman Husks’, just to throw them on the painting table when I get a little tired of working on the ‘Rifle Corps’.

My objective for the day is to have all the below models are on their bases, then throoughout the week I can slowly start to prime them.

WM: Khador Lord Kozlov (Warcaster)

Since I opened the Khador Battlegroup box and painted the Juggernaut from there not long ago, I decided the other day to go ahead and assemble the Warcaster Lord Kozlov from the box.  Really not sure how much playing time he will see, unless I can find a Journeyman League to play in, but I did not want to have an opened model unfinished.
