WM: Cygnar Trencher Grenade Porter (UA)

This past week I have been really busy with "work" and I did not really get a chance to get much done in regards to painting.  This coming week will also be really busy, so I decided to this past Saturday and Sunday to get a few models done.  Not as much as I had wanted to, but being to complete anything is an accomplishment.

The last two weeks of this month I will be on vacation from work to enjoy the Holidays.  I am planning (and hoping) to be able to get a lot more painted and play quite a few games.

Well up first from this weekends models is a "Trencher Grenade Porter" to add to my son's "Trencher Infantry" Unit that were completed the other day.

WM: Cygnar Trenchers Infantry (Unit)

It was time to get back to my son's Cygnar army.  Seeing how I completed all of his Warcasters, Warkjack's and Solo's I had to now start on one of his Unit's.  He currently has a full 10 man Unit of "Long Gunners" (+ "Office & Standard") and he also has a 10 man Unit of "Trencher Infantry" (+ a "Trencher Grenadier" UA).  Like what I did with my "Iron Fang Pikemen", I decided to start on his "Trencher Infantry" (since most people like to play with this Unit) and paint just the "Leader" and 5 "Grunts" for now.  I will then come back and finish painting the remaining 4 at a later time.

Now that the first 6 are done, next for Cygnar will most likely be the "Trencher Grenadier" followed by starting with some "Long Gunners".  That will keep me busy until 'Santa' brings some more models for Christmas.

WM: Khador Iron Fang Pikemen Officer & Standard (UA)

To go along with the first 6 models of my Unit of "Iron Fang Pikemen" I finished last week, I decided to go ahead and add the "Officer & Standard" to the Unit.

I personally have not played with the "Officer and Standard" to their full potential, but the latest errata from Privateer Press has changed the way 'Defensive Formation' works for them changing the original word "activation" to "action".  Personally I play the game for fun instead of the win.  So now they cannot move 17" like they could have previously.

For me, these guys are more of a 'point filler' just in case I need a few extra points.

I still have 4 more IFP to complete to fill out the Unit, but I'll move onto another model for now and come back to the Unit at a later time.

WM: Khador The Butcher of Khardov (Warcaster)

Last night after getting in a 25 point game with my Khador army (which I lost by scenario, but had a blast), I had to go home and get started on my new "Butcher".  With the "Iron Fang Pikemen" being done for now, I could not wait to get started on this guy.

I was able to complete all the base coating last night, then woke up early this morning to complete the highlights/details.

Really enjoyed painting this guy and I cannot wait to give him a try.  Maybe tonight in a practice game for a local 15 point tournament in early January (1 Warcaster / 1 Warjack / 1 Unit / 1 Solo, and any extra points can be used on a UA or another Warjack).

Once again I played around with lighting (yes again, lol) and using my light-box.  I think I am finally happy with the way the photos came out.

WM: Khador Iron Fang Pikemen (Unit)

Last night I was actually able to finally complete my first Unit for Warmachine.  Since Khador is my army (Cygnar is my son's), I decided to paint one of my Unit's first.

Currently for Khador all I have is a full unit of "Iron Fang Pikemen" along with the "Officer/Standard".  I decided to first start on the "Leader" and 5 "Grunts", then I'll move onto the "Officer/Standard" and finally the final 4 "Grunts" to fill out the Unit.

As I mentioned in yesterday's post I now can go ahead and start on "Butcher" tomorrow.  I'm really looking forward to painting him up.  I plan on taking my time with him.

Here are the pictures of the IFP.  Once again, I am playing around with different lighting on the below pictures.

Daily Chronicle: 12/02/2010

December's Agenda

Well it has been two months since I last wrote a "Daily Chronicle", so much for the word 'Daily'.  I have been writing as much as I can when I have models that are completed and ready for posting.  The purpose of the "Daily Chronicle" is really to write any updates on day's that I do not have any models to post.

So we shall begin:  I am still working on painting my first Unit of "Iron Fang Pikemen" for my Khador army.  I have completed four "Grunts" and I am currently working on one more "Grunt" and the "Leader".  Once these last two are done, my initial Unit will be completed.  I do still have the additional four "Grunts" to fill out the Unit to 10 and an "Officer" and "Standard" to complete the whole Unit to 12.  Let's just start with the initial 6.

To keep me motivated and on track with the "IFP" last night I picked up another 'Warcaster' for the Khador army.  Currently I have "Vlad" and "Irusk" and I really wanted the bad boy "Butcher".  My local store had "The Butcher of Khardov - 2010" model so I had to pick it up.  While waiting for some paint to dry on the "IFP" last night, I had to break "Butcher" out of the blister and get him assembled.  I am hoping to have him primed some time today and possibly start working on him this weekend.  The Warmachine League that we are currently playing in, awards achievement for playing with painted models, painted Warcaster's, different Warcaster's and so on.  So by adding "Butcher" I will have hit the four Warcaster achievement (Vlad, Irusk, Gorten and now Butcher).

We'll see how the rest of the month pan's out.  I still have Units for Cygnar to paint and I have some Lizardmen Skinks to paint for Warhammer Fantasy.  I may complete the Sinks before moving onto to Cygnar just to give me a change of pace.  Then we have the Holiday's at the end of the month.  I have the last two weeks off from work.  I am planning on a lot of painting and hopefully some gaming in.

Painting Points: November 2010

Well it was not a record month in "Painting Points" as far as number of points achieved, but it was still a great month regarding painting my Warmachine models.

This past month finally saw me break out all my Warmachine models that I had bought a few years ago, plus a few new models we picked up this past month.  Plus I actually got quite a few games in and I am partaking in a 'League' at Empire Games AZ.

Even though I painted only 59 points in November it was a good month.  Basically every model listed in my Cygnar, Khador and Seaforge armies were painted this month.

A quick recap of what was painted:

Warcasters: 5
Warjacks: 13
Solos: 7

I still have some Units to paint up in December to keep me busy and I'm always on the lookout for starting a new army.  I really want to stick with Warmachine over Hordes, but those "Gator" models are looking pretty sweet.  I may purchase a few of the models just to paint them.

Total Painting Points for the month: 59
Total Painting Points for the year: 772

WM: Cygnar Hunter (Warjack)

After I finished "Captain Adept" yesterday, I decided to continue working on Cygnar and complete the last Light Warjack that we have, "Hunter".  Since I had all the colors already out, "why not?"

I try and encourage playing with painted models as much as possible (especially when playing at our local store) so my son has not really gotten a chance to play with "Hunter" much.  He was the last of the unpainted Warjacks for his Cygnar army.  Now he can choose and play with whichever Warjack he chooses.

Regarding unfinished models for Cygnar.  We have a full Unit of "Trenchers" (+ Grenadier) and a full Unit of "Long Gunners" (+ Officer/Standard) that still has to get done.  Once I finish my "Iron Fang Pikemen" (which I actually started) I'll probably move onto one of these Units.

WM: Cygnar Gun Mage Captain Adept (Solo)

Since it's football Sunday, it's my day to paint and watch TV.  As I mentioned this morning in my "Driller" post, I was going to move onto a few more Cygnar models before continuing on Khador.  I am awaiting for the primer to dry on some "Iron Fang Pikemen" and then I will actually start on some Units.

Before I have to get to painting some Cygnar Units, I still had one Solo and one Light Warjack to complete first.

So up first is "Gun Mage Captain Adept"

WM: Rhul Ghordson Driller (Warjack)

As I saw my "Ghordson Driller" just sitting in the package, I thought it was time to take a small break from Khador and to finish this model up.

"Driller" is the last of the Mercenaries models I have for my Rhul army.  15 points to start with are now complete.  I'll play a few games at this point level and then decide if I want to expand them to 25 points.  I think for now I'll keep them at 15 points and possibly start another small army in the near future.

I have two other Cygnar models I am probably going to paint next, then back to Khador.
