Guild Ball: Third Wave of Captains Released

Today the final 3 new Captains for Guild Ball have been officially released.  They have been up for pre-order on Steamforged Games website the last two weeks, but today is release day.

I held out on the pre-order through SFG, but today decided to make an order through Discount Games, it will save me a few dollars on shipping, international fees, plus 15% off the models.

The final 3 Captains are:

Alchemists: Soma/Pneuma

Farmers: Festival

Union: Veteran Greede

Guild Ball: The Union 'Faithful of Solthecius'

It has been pretty quiet around here this week with the Holiday's. not much modeling nor gaming (hoping to get in a game later today).  On Christmas Eve this past Monday, one half of my Steamforged Games Black Friday Sale package finally arrived.  My boxed set for The Union 'Faithful of Solthecius' finally came in.  This boxed set represents The Union models that separated and formed The Order Minor Guild.

I actually have majority of the models that already belong to The Order, but I was missing the Mascot 'Pride', with Steamforged Gamed having issues with their website during the Black Friday Sale and the Limited Edition version of 'Pride' kept on saying "sold out", I just went ahead and ordered the full boxed set anyways.  The existing Union models that I already have, I can paint them a little differently, or may even sell some of them individually, we'll see what happens with them later (I am in no rush with them).

Once I get these models assembled early next year, I may actually try a game with them first before they hit the painting table, they are more of a scoring team with 'Seasoned Brisket' it may be fun to try them out.

'Faithful of Solthecius' comes with the following models:

Seasoned Brisket
Pride
Grace
Benediction
Mist
Harry 'The Hat'

Guild Ball: More Goodies Inbound

This past Saturday my wife and I took a trip 75 miles North to Grand Rapids, Michigan.  Since moving to Michigan last fall it was the first time I visited the city.  Grand Rapids is a pretty decent sized city (probably the largest in Western Michigan) with a couple of different shopping malls.  So since she was off from work that day, we took a little road trip.  Up in Grand Rapids is also a gaming store called Big Kidz Games, I have been meaning to check out that store, but 150 miles round trip is a lot of gas.  So this was a perfect time to check it out. I could pick up some model for my Guild Ball Guilds, and then I can take the wife to the shopping malls.

It has not been officially stated yet, but it looks like Steamforged Games will be eliminating the single model blisters and move towards packaging the Guilds with 6 Players in a box.  A few months ago they have been re-releasing the models in these 6 Player boxes, and the new Farmer's and Blacksmith's Guilds are coming packaged with 6 Players.  The local gaming stores are also stating they can no longer order the indivdual models and Steamforged have also removed them from their website.  I can see where this is easier for them to sell the product, and local gaming stores just stocking the boxes (not having to make room for all the individual model), but a gamer/collector that already has some of these models and just looking to fill in a few missing models, it will be harder for them.

Once I've seen the pattern shift towards this trend, I decided to slowly start filling in my missing models to complete all the Guilds.  So while up at Big Kidz Games, I purchased everything that I needed that they had in stock.

Fisherman's Guild:
Corsair
Kraken
Tentacles
Veteran Siren

Mason's Guild:
Chisel
Veteran Harmony
Wrecker

Mortician's Guild:
Veteran Graves
Vileswarm

The Union:
Fangtooth
Strongbox

I am still short 4 models, for the Mortician's 'Brainpan and Memory' (2 models, single blister) and for The Union 'Mist' and 'Snakeskin'.  I am also short 6 models for the Brewer's Guild, but coming this October, those 6 Brewer's models will be packaged in a boxed set and I will just make that purchase.

There are still other models that I do not have like Limited Edition versions, Resin versions, and Kickstarter versions, but my goal is to have all of the regular models for the Guilds.  Then going forward I can just purchase the new 6 Player Guild boxes.

Looks like I am keeping myself busy with Guild Ball.

Guild Ball: Union Guild 'Harry The Hat'

Last week I got a pretty decent deal on a bunch of Union models and I am one to collect multiple armies/guilds, so why not.  Plus what is different with the Union Guild is that the players can play on their own Union team, or they can be outsourced to other Guilds.  Each Guild has a set of Union players that can play for them.

So to start off with the Union, we have 'Harry The Hat' who can play for the Alchemist's, the Butcher's, the Brewer's, and the Engineer's.  Seeing how have three of the four Guilds completed, I thought it was fitting he should be first.  'Harry' has a 2" Melee Zone which is why the Engineer's like to use him along with a 4 TAC that can be upgraded to 7 when he uses Crazy.  His other two Character Traits also seem to be very useful, Rising Anger and Inspiring Hat.
