W40K: Tablewar New Size Gaming Mats

 

Well it took FedEx forever to deliver my packages (over  a week), but yesterday afternoon my new Warhammer 40,000 gaming mats from Tablewar arrived.

Tablewar is having a 15% off sale for the month of November and existing customers can take take an additional 10% off, so with 25% off, I thought it was a good time to purchase some Warhammer 40,000 mats in the new sizes.

With the release of Warhammer 40,000 9th Edition, the board went down in size.  What used to be played on a 6'x4' mat is now 60"x44" and for smaller scale games (500-1000 points) the recommended size is 30"x44".

Frontline gaming recently released new "borders" to convert your 6'x4' mats (which I also did purchase), but I went ahead and ordered one mat in each of the new sizes from Tablewar.

I like to change up the board mat every now and then so we are not always playing on city ruins, this will do that for us.

These two mats are coming with us on our weekend trip and should be seen in future blog posts.

Kill Team: TABLEWAR Dbl Sided 'Urban Combat' + 'Badlands' F.A.T. Mat Gaming Mat

Come the end of the month I think I want to give Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team a try.  Most games are played at around 125 points (so just a few models) and the gaming area is much smaller (30"x22").  If the game plays fast, then I think it would be a good fill in for the weeknight gaming and leave the larger games of Warhammer 40,000 on the weekends.

I have plenty of gaming mats already (too many too count) ranging from 2'x2' to '6x4' but I do not own one for the size of Kill Team.  Yes we could play on any mat and mark off the needed areas, but that is not me, I need a mat just for Kill Team.

I ventured off to the two sites I usually by my mats from, Frontline Gaming and TABLEWAR and checked out the designs from both companies.  One of the things that hooked my on the mats at TABLEWAR is that they are double sided for Kill Team, that's a bonus.  I went ahead and purchased the Dbl Sided 'Urban Combat' + 'Badlands' F.A.T. Mat Gaming Mat and my new mat arrived the other day.

Now all we have to do is give Kill Team a try.

BMG: Plast Craft Games "Circus Set"

A couple of weeks ago when I started purchasing some 'Joker' models for the Batman Miniature Game, I thought to myself how cool it would be to play on a circus themed tabled.  I then remembered from AdeptiCon 2018 while watching some of the Malifaux gaming, such terrain does exist.

Plast Craft Games had teamed up with Wyrd Games (makers of Malifaux) to released some licensed terrain, and one of the sets they released was the circus.  I then visited the Plast Craft Games website to see what all was available for the circus, and there was quite a few different items including a "Big Top Stage" which was a must needed item, heck, actually all of it was needed.  Between Miniature Market and Amazon, I was able to order everything I wanted.  Amazon deliveries were quick, but with Miniature Market I had to wait a bit for it to arrive, and then one day the circus came into town.

There is a lot of assembly needed for all of this and my usual super glue worked great.  The material is some sort of plastic (hence the name of the company) and it all comes pre-painted which is what I have been looking for lately.

I started assembling some items when it first arrived and ran out of time, but last night I was able to finish up the last two boxes and complete my circus.

I also knew I needed a gaming mat for the circus set and decided to check out my two usual companies, Frontline Gaming and Tablewar and elected to go with the "Cave Floor" design from Tablewar.

I like the terrain so much, that I just went ahead and order some Urban and Malifaux buildings for our city mat.
